We pray...That Christ may dwell in your hearts by faith; that ye, being rooted and grounded in love, may be able to comprehend with all saints what is the breadth, and length, and depth, and height; And to know the love of Christ, which passeth knowledge
…that ye might be filled with all the fulness of God. Ephesians 3:17-19

DAY 16—Those who minister and those who receive it participate in the building up of the Body of Christ.
Whether we teach or preach, serve the table, or clean the toilets, we are called to do it all ...for the edifying of the Body of Christ (Ephesians 4:12b). While the less honorable services seem to belong to those of us who are less qualified, this need not be the case. It would be well for all of us to learn to serve the Body of Christ by taking care of the menial tasks that make things better for others in the Body. Let’s remember that the true Church is more than the building in which we meet for worship. It is people redeemed by the blood of Jesus, living stones who have needs that some haven’t yet turned over to the Lord.
The most useful thing we can do for someone in the Body is to pray for them. That’s the reason we take on the discipline of intercession for people that don’t yet know how to bring their own burdens to the Lord. There is no greater service any of us can render to another. Edifying means “building up.” What a powerful commission is laid upon us all: to help build up the Body of Christ for the purposes of God’s Kingdom on earth.

I Corinthians 14:12—Even so ye, forasmuch as ye are zealous of spiritual gifts, seek that ye may excel to the edifying of the church.

I Corinthians 14:26—How is it then, brethren? when ye come together, every one of you hath a psalm, hath a doctrine, hath a tongue, hath a revelation, hath an interpretation. Let all things be done unto edifying.
FATHER, please place within me an understanding of how I can serve others. Sometimes I’m held back by my own timidity. Sometimes I feel I might be intruding. Other times I just don’t know what to do. And then, there seems to be so little time for me to do the things necessary to keep my own affairs running. Please open my eyes and my heart to ways that will make my life useful for Your Kingdom—Your eternal Kingdom.
